A.Rahman is born in Banjul ( Gambia ), lead singer of this group. He plays different instruments like the bass, guitar, African percussions and composes his own songs and music.

Rahman started music at a young age in the Gambia . His first band called the SANGAMAR was founded in the early 1970's together with some friends until 1974 when some musicians of his band were selected by other big bands at that time like the IFANG BONDI, GELEWAR and MAGADAN DANCE BAND.

After this early musical experience A. Rahman left the Gambia in 1975 on a travel that took him to Europe , America , Jamaica , Trinidad , Aruba , St Thomas and other Caribbean Islands.

With lots of reggae experience, A. Rahman returned home to The Gambia in 1981 and formed the group Chossan Roots Band in which he was the bass guitarist and lead vocalist. The group toured within West Africa to countries like Senegal, Burkina Faso , Togo , Benin , Cote d'Ivoire , Nigeria and Sierra Leone .

After their African tour the group moved to Paris ( France ) in 1987. Based in France the band performs in different clubs, festivals and television programmes within France and have performed in other European countries including Holland, Germany, England. The group recorded its album 'Jahjaifatei Hadim' in 1990 in Amsterdam and mixed in London.

After a long experience with the group Chossan Roots Band, A. Rahman decided to go solo and formed his own band call A. RAHMAN SOUND SYSTEM

In 1992 and with his dub band the group based provincial region called La Mayenne outside Paris. This group plays reggae, ragga, roots and African music.They released an album entitled Back to Africa in 1997.

In 1998 A. Rahman Sound system organised their first BACK TO AFRICA TOUR together with the association ROOTS & CULTURES which is a humanitarian and cultural association founded in 1997 by A. Rahman and his band. The intensions of Roots & Cultures are to pave the way for repatriation and back to Africa . Help in developments of Africa in any other means. And our association is in contact with different local association in Senegal and Gambia , Mali , Burkina Faso and other African countries.

After a 3-month back to Africa tour in which A. Rahman and his band performed in Senegal and The Gambia .
the band returned to France.

In the Year 2000 A .Rahman return to Africa to perform and promote his album in television, radio and press through out Senegal and The Gambia

Between 2000-2003 A. Rahman sound system has done several live recordings with the Gladiators from Jamaica .

Rahman sound system now called A. RAHMAN REVELATION Band have performed with big bands like Pablo Moses, Third World, Big Youth, Max Romeo, Gladiators, Alpha Blondy, Toure Kunda, Youssou Ndour, Fela Kuti, Tiken Jah fakoly, Capelton and may Artiste from different part of the world.
