Cultural Gambia

Probably one of the smallest countries in Africa both in size and population, The Gambia can boast of a rich and diverse music culture owing to a multi ethnic and cultural society... More…

Abraham Colongy

Abraham Colongy (real name Ebrima Sambou) is a Gambian born in Sierra Leone. He started his musical career at a tender age and progressed through the years. He had a massive single with his group Born Gambians in the late 90's called " Slavery or Slave

Trade" but some were use to it at the time as "Our Great Grand Parents" which was a real hit before they all went solo. He has released several singles there after, which all carry very powerful messages. " Skin Bleaching & Talk Too Much" became some of his most appreciated song in 2002 and 2004 respectively. " Preach & Teach" was also amongst those songs that had helped him regain his popularity and currently he is riding high, creating storm in all corners of Brikama, and home to many Gambian musicians more over anywhere in Gambia where ever he's heard.

Abraham Colongy given the title " Gambian Sizzla" by some of his fans, who is unquestionably the leading young musician in Brikama, following the departure of Rebellion D' Recaller, has launched one his much-talked- about single, Talk Too Much , on Jan 24, 2004 at the popular Afra FM, Brikama.

Colongy, some times referred to as God's Friend , is a source of inspiration for many sprouting young musicians in the 90's, shortly before Rebellion entered the scene and stole it. Abraham Colongy has worked with many renowned artists and producers all of which admires his energy and the messages he's spreading.

In an interview with What's On, Colongy said, "The single 'Talk Too Much' is all about hypocrisy. It is out mainly to condemn people who like talking about other people's business. This is why I said in the song, "shut up your mouth. Leave people business, and try to mind your own."

Refine Respect is certainly one of the songs our communities need to bring us together in this divided world of hatred, and to sum that up Abraham has a message for Black Women that we men need them and so vice versa in his song "Woman Them Know".

"Who Them" is so intelligently done you can't believe the content of the song it is so much of an advice and an eye opener for the youths who want to go separate ways instead of the truth.

Finally as the saying goes "No matter how fast a horse runs you must chain them to run faster" , Abraham is also looking for our support to take his career to a higher level & with your support he can do it. So please let's all come together in our millions & support this good cause. Every kind of support is highly appreciated.

Thanks for visiting Abraham's page and watch out for him more coming soon this is just the beginning! Peace!!!!
